SVA Art Factory

Perfectly hidden & quite delightful. After years of drawing, I've never walked into a session like SVA. Much like UWM, much like life, I was looking for someplace new to jump start another sketchbook. Although it's a hike to Sheboygan, it was like traveling back into a simpler time. Smaller buildings, cleaner streets, and super nice people were expected of the beautiful city. SVA is an old factory building where you enter along the side street. Upon joining the class I noticed a few familiar faces and the overall scene was basic and familiar. I always love that about drawing sessions, familiar, safe, and exciting!

But that is where things began to get more interesting. After a few gestures, it was clear that the group of artists had created a family environment. Everyone knew one another. The models chatted with the artists. These sessions were more intimate and fun than I had previously experienced. (And I drew with the same 8 people for 4 years every week at MIAD) The group will also grab drinks after the session. I've heard of that in other sessions, but this is the first group that actually does it because they truly enjoy one another's company.

A great drawing session, can't wait to get back.
